Monday's special

Sincerity is impossible, unless it pervade the whole being, and the pretence of it saps the very foundation of character.
James Russell Lowell

Pretence about anything sometimes deceives the wisest and shrewdest man, but, however cunningly it is hidden, a child of the meanest capacity feels it and is respelled by it.
Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

Malice can always find a mark to shoot at, and a pretence to fire.
Charles Simmons

Excellent quotes!

Hi Claudia. As you can see, I've managed to sneak over to see you today! I always enjoy your quotes on a Monday. Always a good start to the week my friend. Thank you so much for still popping across to leave a comment on my posts, even though I can't get over to see you very much at the moment :( I'm glad you liked the spring flowers in my header photo. I think we're all looking forward to spring now. Hope all is well with you.

@Belle - thank you!
@Diane - do not worry, I am happy you keep on posting, and yes all is well on my side!

@Monica - I am following as well, thank you for being here!

Very wise words, as always Claudia. Thank you.

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
