One small gesture

Monday evening while checking the post I found that one of my packages was received by someone in a neighbouring house. I did not know them (I still discover who lives on our street) so I went over, rang and waited. No reaction for a while, but a second prior to the moment when I wanted to give up, I heard a noise within the house. So I waited and waited until an older gentleman came out. I shouted that I have a package, but he told me that he does not need any delivery. I tried to explain, I raised my voice a bit and then a lady started to shout from the house to come in. I started apologising and thanking them, but the lady insisted to in the living room. So I did and found a very old lady, probably very sick, resting on a couch. She was surprised to see me, being so young and a new face in the area. I chatted with her a bit, and when I wanted to leave she asked me to come again. She was so happy to receive a visit, I suppose. The couple reminded me of my grand-grandparents, so much enthusiam for such a small gesture, just to come by... So I decided that during my holiday I will bake a cake and spend 1 hour with them. Sometimes small deeds are better than anything. And I am grateful for their openess!
