D - Drink plenty of water. Dance

Posted by Claudia Moser on 6:43 AM in , , ,

I can't dance, I can't talk.
Only thing about me is the way I walk.

So if you can't dance, start walking and don't forget to drink some water :) This is the advice given by my husband on a daily basis, because I have to admit I am a coffee addict (for my older followers, they will go now, well, yeah! old news!) and I rather forget to drink water. But I do try to improve! Promise!

Some tips which I found here:

Heart healthy
Drinking a good amount of water could lower your risks of a heart attack. A six-year study published in the May 1, 2002 American Journal of Epidemiology found that those who drink more than 5 glasses of water a day were 41% less likely to die from a heart attack during the study period than those who drank less than two glasses.

Energy
Being dehydrated can sap your energy and make you feel tired -- even mild dehydration of as little as 1 or 2 percent of your body weight. If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated -- and this can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and other symptoms.

Headache cure
Another symptom of dehydration is headaches. In fact, often when we have headaches it's simply a matter of not drinking enough water. There are lots of other causes of headaches of course, but dehydration is a common one.

Healthy skin
Drinking water can clear up your skin and people often report a healthy glow after drinking water. It won't happen overnight, of course, but just a week of drinking a healthy amount of water can have good effects on your skin.

Better exercise
Being dehydrated can severely hamper your athletic activities, slowing you down and making it harder to lift weights. Exercise requires additional water, so be sure to hydrate before, during and after exercise.

Conclusion? Do not underestimate the power of water!

P.S. On Sunday, Beth from the GBE2 group suggested that we should use the weekly theme dancing as a potential topic for the A-Z Challenge Letter D entry. But I had so many nice songs in my head that I did not resist the temptation and posted this.

I love Phil Collins-- and that is one of my favorites by him!! I shall sing this tune all night long while I work :)

Cheers, Jenn!

@Jenn - yes, this is a ear worm :)

thank you for the advice. It is very funny because i was just recently treated for dehydration( long story that found me in the ER of hospital far from home grrrrr) So i will be printing out ur blog for inspiration.... thanks for sharing :)

I have been working on drinking more water. I find I'm a tea drinker but then it's a diuretic so kind of not working on the problem! Love the tune!
Hugs~

Good advice for us there, Claudia. Fortunately, I have always drunk plenty of water. I hardly ever touch coffee, but I do like my green tea with mint.

@Sush - I also love tea, but only in the winter.
@Diane - love green tea, but allergic to mint, so I'd rather stick to lemonade.

It's been a while since I heard Phil Collins - enjoyed that.

@Suzy - I am happy you did enjoy it!

Confess to being a tea addict, but when I do get n the water bandwagon (which this will spur me to do again) I find I always feel better. Thanks for the hydrating nudge!

I do love my water but probably don't drink enough. Thanks for the Phil Collins vid, it's been a long time since I've heard him yet alone seen a video.

I drink a lot of water....most days, but really notice the times I don't. So it certainly does make a difference. I definitely don't dance enough, but should. I like the video...funny.

I love your post. Hubs and I are actively trying to be healthier, and drinking water was a good way to start. Also, loved the video :)

Lol! Great post! And yes, water is a magic cure-all of sorts! Drink up! ~ Angela, Whole Foods Living, http://www.wholefoodsliving.blogspot.com/

Water is the only thing i like to drink. (besides a cup of coffee or two a day)

you are so right--the lack of good hydration can also cause bad breath--good info!!

Good advice, although I'm not a water fan. I prefer my Diet Coke!

I agree about water. But all morning I sip on my coffee and don't drink enough water either.

Water is my favourite drink - apart from a nice cup of tea, of which I limit myself to no more than 3 a day. Sometimes I like my water fizzy. Such an exciting life, I lead :-) Great, informative post.

I'm not gonna lie - I don't drink water... except in tea/coffee and when I take a tablet.
I've battled with it all my life. But I know how important it is!

I really like the collection of information you have here for people Claudia. Water is an essential ingredient in maintaining health. Just not too much, that can be the flip-side of healthy for people :-) Great post!

I'm a morning coffee drinker and an afternoon oh and an evening coffee drinker, BUT I also drink 3 or 4 bottles of water every day. I have more trouble remembering to eat! I am happy with one good meal and a snack and I know 3 to 5 small meals is the right thing, but I just don't do it.
Good informative post!

I wasn't a consistently good water drinker until a few years ago when I made the decision to give up all artificial sweeteners. I didn't want to drink a bunch of sugary stuff, so the logical thing was to drink water. Now I love the stuff and drink more of that than anything else.

I'm printing this post and taping it to every available surface that my eye sees. I so definitely need to drink more water! Thank you!

I don't drink enough water but that will step up now that warmer weather is on it's way.

Love Phil Collins!

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
