Modern technology - happiness project

Posted by Claudia Moser on 5:26 PM in ,
Modern technology. Sitting at the doctor's waiting for my appointment and forced to listen to the discussion between the nurse and a patient - the dangers of modern technology from a social perspective. And they do have a point - more and more people communicate via smart phones, Facebook, Whatsapp and other means. You sit at the restaurant and couples have their phones glued to their fingers, ignoring each other and barely exchanging some words.

How often do you have a heated argument like when did Matisse die? What does someone from your circle do immediately? Takes out his smart phone and googlws. What happened with your memory? With making assumptions? With not knowing but still having fun in the process of discussion?

Yes, people grow apart, they stop talking, they exchange likes and sms, maybe some comments on selfies. I miss the good old days (dah!) when we had books, magazines and radios but above all we had silence and not this constant background noise (with many ohhs and ahhs and brilliant and gorgeous).

What to do? Well I decided today that I will spend one werkend without my phones. Who wants to find me I will be out taking a walk!

Fantastic Claudia!! You show us the way and we will follow. I´m also against this permanent forced to be online, horrible facebook and smartphones enjoying you even to bed at night. I´m old fashioned and believe in face to face communication and spending time in the nature!! It´s a strange time that we are living in.

Dearest Claudia;
Just today I saw a boy riding on a bike using smart-phone. Your post here made me rethink my lifestyle as well(^^;)

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*

Oh, so sorry that I mistakenly pasted you the wrong one, my dear friend in Germany.
Please forgive me, my friend!

Love and Hugs, xoxo Miyako*

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
