Monday's special

Posted by Claudia Moser on 7:26 AM in
After this weekend's experience, I thought that art should be my inspiration for the Monday's special.

A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires.
Hedy Lamarr

A great artist is always before his time or behind it.
George Edward Moore

A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession.
Albert Camus

A man paints with his brains and not with his hands.
Michelangelo

A picture is a poem without words.
Horace

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Napoleon Bonaparte

A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.
Oscar Wilde

A writer should write with his eyes and a painter paint with his ears.
Gertrude Stein

An artist is never ahead of his time but most people are far behind theirs.

I love Art as well Claudia. Saw the fantastic Monet Exhibition when I was in Paris, but my very favourites are the romantic Pre-Raphelites!

I love Art in all forms. :-)

That Gertrude Stein quote is so true. Sometimes writers forget to write with their eyes, leaving readers wondering where they are. It's something I forget.

Hi :) Nice blog you got there, I was wonderin if we could be friends and follow each others blogs? ^__^ Thank youuuu.~

@Diane - yes Monet is amazing, and art should be part of our lifes on a daily basis!
@Misha - sometimes finding quotes enlightens my day as well!
@Kristina - thank you for your kind comment, welcome!

I love different genres of art. No particular artist, just certain pieces grab me...
Enjoyed your pictures from yesterday and the quotes from today! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Laura, you are right!

Great quotes. I especially liked the one from Homer.

I love what Horace said, "A picture is a poem without words." That is how I feel.

Art slows time for me. I get lost in the light and shadows. I remember things I had forgotten.

@Maryann - thank you, drop by on Mondays I always collect quotes on a theme!
@Karen - you are so sweet! I will write today, many thanks!
@Belle - my favourite as well and it is indeed very pitoresque!
@Rick - what a wonderful description, I will remember it for sure!

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
