“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”

“Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything.”
 Kurt Vonnegut

“It would be difficult for me to express all my thoughts about it. It remains a constant disappointment to me that my drawings are not yet what I want them to be. The difficulties are indeed numerous and great, and cannot be overcome immediately.”
 Vincent van Gogh

“Opportunity is a favorable occasion for grasping a disappointment.”
 Ambrose Bierce

“How many young hearts have revealed the fact that what they had been trained to imagine, the highest earthly felicity, was but the beginning of care, disappointment, and sorrow, and often led to the extremity of mental and physical suffering.”

The second one is my clear favourite. I tried maturity, didn't like it. Shan't bother again :-)

very wise
thanks for sharing.

@Sarah - well it does help but not always :)
@Izdiher - just a bit of seriousness to start the week!

Happy Monday to you Claudia. I like the first one, but the last one is very sad! Hope your week isn't going to be too busy for you.

@Diane - not so busy, but many loose ends to tackle. Happy week!

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
