Love

Posted by Claudia Moser on 7:40 PM in , ,

As per GBE2, we should use the picture in order to generate a post. My immediate associations? Marriage, happinness, time spend together. And somehow remembered some lines from Hamlet:

Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.

I never doubted love and I am grateful for the one I found.

To end another lovely poem from Shakespeare, Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
admit impediments. Love is not love
which alters when it alteration finds,
or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh, no! It is an ever-fixed mark.
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
it is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
within his bending sickle's compass come;
love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
but bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

I just don't speak Shakespeare, I guess. But I do speak LOVE and the message is in there somewhere, that it is steadfast and true and forever. With that, I agree.

Any post with love in it, is okay with me!! I'm so glad you found love with Peter.

@Jo - it's not everyone's cup of tea, but he did write very intense poems!
@Diane - I did and I am very lucky!

I do love Shakespeare, and had all but forgotten the sonnet you quoted. (After all, it's been some _0 years since college, and I'll admit I don't go back and read them every year, tho my Riverside still sits in my bookshelves.) Thank you for reminding me of it.

@Angela - I'm happy I reminded you of something you love :=)

I definitely don't like reading Shakespeare but love can be written about in so many ways. I just love love!

@Barb - I know you :-)

I love Shakespeare, I love that photograph and I LOVE YOUR POST!

Hugs and I'm happy you found your love!

Love is better than anything, and life-long love is truly a great blessing. Nicely done, Claudia!

@Sush - thank you!
@Beth - you are right, it is a great blessing!

Who can doubt that Shakespeare had experienced the kind of love he writes about.

We studied a number of the plays but I hadn't read the Sonnets until now. This was a nice introduction, thanks

@Paula - you are right!
@Eeyorn - happy I introduced something new!
@Karolina - :))

@Kathy - thanks!

Never really understood the fuss over Shakespeare but I do appreciate the sentiments, Claudia. A very sweet post *hugs*

...sometimes love can indeed be very complicated with the possibility of being very beautiful. Thanks for the Shakespeare.

@Beachlover - so true ... all loves have the possibility of being beautiful, it is just up to the two involved!

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
