Resources ... part of our day to day lives (air, water, food, energy ...), of our professional life (from a normal pen to a complicated projector). And of course today's word for the A to Z Challenge. It is amazing how fast time flies, only 6 letters left and I would master this challenge. At the beginning I was thinking that I might not get ideas, I might just drop the ball one day, but the more in you are, the more the topic appeals to you.
So a couple of words on resources linked with my business side.
Resource = Economic or productive factor required to accomplish an activity, or as means to undertake an enterprise and achieve desired outcome.
Three most basic resources are land, labor, and capital; other resources include energy, entrepreneurship, information, know how, management, and time.
One important lesson learned from the beginning of my project management career was to plan my resources not only carefully but also realistic.
Resource Planning allows you to identify the:
- Types of labor required for the project
- Roles and key responsibilities for each labor type
- Number of people required to fill each role
- Total amount of so called materials needed
The Resource Plan will also help you to:
- Plan the dates for using or consuming these resources
- Identify the amount of resource required per project activity
- Create a detailed resource utilization schedule
