Alice Munro

Alice Munro is the lady who accompanies me lately on my travels. She has a wonderful way of writing and I wanted to share with you some of her thoughts.

"The conversation of kisses. Subtle, engrossing, fearless, transforming."
from Runaway: Stories

"Love removes the world for you, and just as surely when it's going well as when it's going badly."
from The Beggar Maid: Stories of Flo and Rose

"In your life there are a few places, or maybe only the one place, where something happened, and then there are all the other places."
from Too Much Happiness (a great story!)

... for me one of these places is the world wide web

This is what I consider as a possible motto for my blog, what do you think?

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."

and this is what I wish for all of you

"He never wanted to be away from her. She had the spark of life. "

I love that last quote, Claudia. It is SO romantic! That is a very good motto for your blog. A house that we can come back to time and time again, and we will always feel different because of what is going on in the house at the time of our visit!

Thank you Diane, I think I will use it, it has a wonderful sound to it!

Claudia, the whole post was great but that last line was brilliant and I really can say I had that with Rich. I hope everyone can feel that at least once in their lives.

"...the story always contains more than you saw the last time." That is so true about a good book. I also like how she compares a story to a house. I haven't read any of her books yet, but have heard she is a great writer.

@Barb - yes, Alic Munro is very gifted and her words are so meaningful!
@Belle - you should give her a try, I believe it is worth it!
