Monday's special

Posted by Claudia Moser on 6:23 AM in
Since the word birthday is so present in my life lately, that it is rather logical that I post some Monday's special quotes related to this word.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
Abraham Lincoln

The old believe everything; the middle aged suspect everything: the young know everything.
Oscar Wilde

The secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.
Lucille Ball

A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age.
Robert Frost - simply lovely!

Whatever with the past has gone, the best is always yet to come.
Lucy Larcom

Marriage is the alliance of two people, one of whom never remembers birthdays and the other never forgets them.
Ogden Nash - funny and somehow true, right?

and to end
Success is like reaching an important birthday and finding you're exactly the same.
Audrey Hepburn

My favourites are the Frost and the Wilde.

A great selection of quotes!

@Sarah & Desiree - thank you ladies!

I've always loved Ogden Nash: I think he wrote about dating: "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker." He was a sly one. Great quotes!

I think I like Abe Lincoln's the best. It's what you do with your life that counts.

Hi Claudia. I like Abe Lincoln's quote and, also, Oscar Wilde, but they're all very good. Hope all is well over there my friend.

@Belle - did he? Cute funny!
@Barb - so true!
@Diane - all is well, for you I hope as well!

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
