Monday's special

Since books are so present in my life, I dedicate my Monday's special to this item as well!

A room without books is like a body without a soul.

Nothing can do what a book can do. Lifts you out of your life... to a whole new world, whole new perspective. A book is like a dream you're borrowing from a friend.
Dave Kellett

Books...are like lobster shells, we surround ourselves with 'em, then we grow out of 'em and leave 'em behind, as evidence of our earlier stages of development.
Dorothy L. Sayers

All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you; the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was.
Ernest Hemingway

A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author.
G. K. Chesterton

The books that help you the most are those which make you think the most.
Theodore Parker

You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.
Paul Sweeney

Love these especially the last one.

@Luan - it is indeed a good one!

Some lovely ones here. I like Cicero's.

@Sarah - yes, it is actually true for our house :) books in all rooms!

I love this and will show it to my husband later! Sadly, he does not enjoy reading as I do. He always says he wishes he did, but just never was a reader.
We have books and more books all over the house. There are many in my office with no place to go. My husband asked if I would like to box some up and store them in the attic until I have time to read them. I told him no that I will read them!

I love the 2nd last one - it's great to get your hands of a book that actually makes you think, and isn't predictable.
Enjoy your evening!

@Laura - stay firm :) and keep on reading!
@Eva - you as well!

I love reading, and I hadn't seen any of these quotes before. They were very good. I particularly liked the last one.

@Diane - well I guess books are our friends :)

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
