Turning 50 in 2026

Posted by Claudia Moser on 9:55 AM

πŸŒŸ Turning 50 in 2026 – Sounds Like a Big Deal, Right?

It seems I’m not the only one hitting this milestone soon. I even tried to find out:
How many people will turn 50 in 2026 worldwide?
Guess what? No clear answer! Apparently, there are no reliable global records for this.

But here’s what I did find: by 2050, in the Netherlands, a quarter of the population will be 65 or older. That will include me eventually! So yes, I’m getting older.

What’s ahead?
Probably 27 more years of work
A little less agility in the body
Plenty of energy and ideas left to explore

🎯 The Plan: 50 Things to Do in the Year I Turn 50

I intend to record my progress right here on this blog.

Some things I’ve already done:

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
