Another challenge

As you know I am taking part in the Blogging for Fun group and this week the theme is dedicated to the 4th of July, the USA national day.

The theme is based on the Lee Greenwood's song, God bless the USA.

Not being an American I cannot comment on the topic, but I thought I'll leave some of its finest to do so.

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed - else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. ~Dwight D. Eisenhower

Liberty is always dangerous, but it is the safest thing we have. ~Harry Emerson Fosdick

This, then, is the state of the union: free and restless, growing and full of hope. So it was in the beginning. So it shall always be, while God is willing, and we are strong enough to keep the faith. ~Lyndon B. Johnson

and to some non Americans

Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better. ~Albert Camus

Liberty is the breath of life to nations. ~George Bernard Shaw

To all my American friends and followers, Happy 4th of July!

Happy you liked it :)

I really appreciate your post! The quotations really touched on what America represents in so many ways!

Thanks~

Thank you Sush!

Thanks for the kind sentiment. I served in Germany, when I was in the Army. My oldest son was born in Nurnberg. You have a lovely country.

@Donna - thank you for your words of appreciation, even if Germany is my adoptive country :-)

Motto

"A story is not like a road to follow … it's more like a house. You go inside and stay there for a while, wandering back and forth and settling where you like and discovering how the room and corridors relate to each other, how the world outside is altered by being viewed from these windows. And you, the visitor, the reader, are altered as well by being in this enclosed space, whether it is ample and easy or full of crooked turns, or sparsely or opulently furnished. You can go back again and again, and the house, the story, always contains more than you saw the last time. It also has a sturdy sense of itself of being built out of its own necessity, not just to shelter or beguile you."
